The Importance of Backlinks To Your Website
March 11th, 2010 | by admin |Have you ever asked yourself how do I get my site ranked in Google? How come some times get to the top 10 SERP’s (Search Engine Results Pages) while other sites languish only to get the longest of long tail traffic?
Well wonder no more.
I’ll not just tell you the answer. I’ll also tell you how you can use the answer to get yourself the high rankings you’ve always dreamed of.
First, to get top rankings your site must get links from other sites.
Links from other websites are considered votes in google’s eyes of the importance of your web page in relation to other pages.
But this is not a democracy in which each site’s vote has equal weight.
Quite the contrary. The more votes your site has the more voting power it has.
This means that a site with 1,000 sites linking towards it has a more important vote than a site with just 1 site linking to it.
So to get ranked you want big sites linking to you. However, research shows that quantity is just as important as quality so you want the little guys to.
Then there’s something called link reputation.
That means which words people use when they link to your site matter.
If they link to your site with relevant words like “How to fish” for a fishing site. Then your site has an increased chance of ranking for those words.
So the answer to the question is to get links. And get links from quality sites and a large quantity of sites.
